AAITF Operation : Arrest of two Bolivian Smugglers with 5 kgs. of cocaine at the Suvarnabhumi Airport

                  On 9 December 2016 at 18.00 hrs., under the AAITF Operation, the ONCB Suvarnabhumi Airport Unit cooperated with the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NBS) and the Royal Thai Customs arrested 2 Bolivian passengers: Ms. Nancy Arancibia Caseres, aged 41 years with 2,600 grams of cocaine and Mr. Enrique Antonio Reque, aged 39 years with 2,400 grams of cocaine after the x-ray inspection and found suspicious materials in their lugguages. The Royal Thai Customs Officers, then, made further inspection and found those drugs concealed in their lugguages. Their trafficking route is from Sao Paulo (Brazil) - Lomé (Togo) - Addis Ababa (Ethiopia) - Suvarnabhumi Airport (Bangkok) and their destination is Siem Riep (Cambodia). The two offenders were sent to the NBS for further legal action.

The ASEAN Narcotics Cooperation Centre (ASEAN-NARCO) was officially launched in Bangkok this week to further drive regional efforts in pursuing ASEAN Drug Free 2015. To act as a coordinating platform for ASEAN Member States in working together on drug related cases, ASEAN NARCO is now focusing on drug law enforcement and expected to cover other areas of drug control in the future.
