The 8th ADMN Operational Workshop-July 12, 2019

Thailand has played a significant role in ASEAN region as one of the member countries who initiated a number of important projects for international cooperation in several levels on narcotic drug control. Among those projects, ASEAN Drug Monitoring Network (ADMN) represents an attempt to establish ASEAN's database on current drug situation of each member countries. The project encourages ASEAN Member States to collect data in the same pattern which is practical to be used in sharing and comparing among members. The ADMN Project has been operated since 2015 and its prominent outcome shows as the ASEAN Drug Monitoring Report (ADM Report), an annual report which is currently published with 3 issues for year 2015, 2016, and 2017. The project is the first time for ASEAN Member States to collectively produce ASEAN drug monitoring report. ONCB, Thailand, is in charge of project management, system and database maintenance, as well as data analysis for publication.

The 8th ADMN Operational Workshop was held at Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel during 3 - 5 July 2019 as a panel for ASEAN Member States to discuss and revise the content of ADM Report 2018. The Meeting also revised Term of Reference (ToR) of the ADMN project which states roles of the ADMN, a user manual for ADM Report System, and 2020 work plan for the project. The result of the meeting will be presented in the 40th Meeting of ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters (ASOD) hosted by Cambodia in August 2019.

The ADM Report 2018 prioritises New Psychoactive Substances (NPS) because of its increasing tendency which may expand drug situation in ASEAN region as it has become a significant problem in other regions around the world.

After presenting in the 40th Meeting of ASOD and announcing its official publication, the ADM Report 2018 will be uploaded on ASEAN-NARCO website at https://aseannarco.oncb.go.th
