ASEAN Seminar on Asset Seizure at the Sukosol Hotel in Bangkok.
On 20 June 2016, Mr. Narong Rattananugul , Secreatary-General, NCB chaired the Openning Ceremony of ASEAN Seminar on Asset Seizure at the Sukosol Hotel in Bangkok. The seminar was hosted by Office of the Narcotics Control Board from 20 to 22 June 2016 with the objectives to share information and experiences on national legislation and operational procedure pertinent to asset forfeiture of illicit drug trafficking and production cases as well as to obtain understanding of international instrument and best practice in forfeiture of assets derived from illicit drug trafficking. Delegations from nine ASEAN Member States attended the seminar as well as representative from ASEAN Secretariat, China and Japan attended the seminar. The ASEAN Member States shared their information on national laws related to asset forfeiture. Representatives from Malaysia, Singapore , Australia and USA were invited to share their experiences on cases and investigation that led to asset seizure. On 22 June 2016, participants had the opportunity to observe the auction of confiscated assets which were luxurious cars, gold at the Office of the Narcotics Control Board.
