Sec-Gen of NCB heading the Thai delegation at the 39th ASOD held in Brunei Darussalam

              On 28 August 2018, Mr. Sirinya Sitdhichai, Secretary-General of the Narcotics Control Board and the head of Thai delegation, together with Mr. Chlaisin Podhicharoen, Deputy Secretary-General, NCB and 22 representatives from ONCB, Royal Thai Police, Department of Medical Services and Academic Committee on Substance Abuse Network, attended the 39th meeting of ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters held during 27-30 August 2018 at Rizqun International Hotel, Brunei Darussalam. On this occasion, Mr. Sirinya Sitdhichai together with the head of other ASEAN countries' delegations had a courtesy call on Dato Paduka, Minister of Defence II and Chairman of the National Security Committee.

                The meeting of ASEAN Senior Officials on Drug Matters under ASEAN Work Plan on Securing Communities against Illicit Drugs 2016-2025, is held annually. The objectives of this meeting are to make policy, report and follow up the ongoing projects and the results of implementation of drug control activities of member countries, and further enhance their cooperation and find mutual resolutions to address existing drug problems.

                 Moreover, on 30 August 2018, at Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam, the meetings between ASOD and Dialogue Partners were organized, namely SOMTC + 3 Working Group on Narcotics, the coordination meetings between ASOD and China, ASOD and ROK, ASOD and Russia. The discussions involved with coordination measures, the control and interdiction of precursor chemicals not to enter the Golden Triangle. At the Meeting, Thailand also urged the dialogue partners to support the ASEAN Work Plan to tackle illicit drug production and trafficking in the Golden Triangle, and seek for further cooperation in the future.
