Secretary-General, NCB welcomed Maj.Gen. Somvang Thammasith, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Lao PDR on his visit to the SMCC, Chiang Mai

                    On 24 August 2018 Maj.Gen. Dr. Somvang Thammasith, Deputy Minister of Public Security, Lao PDR together with Lao Delegation visited the Safe Mekong Coordiation Centre or SMCC, Chiang Mai. The delegation was greeted by Mr. Sirinya Sitdhichai, Secretary-Genaral, Narcotics Control Board along with senior executives of ONCB and concerned agencies. The Delegation made a visit with the intent to learn the best practices of SMCC, Thailand and its management and experience of hosting the Safe Mekong Operation Plan (SMOP) in order to prepare themselves as the host of SMOP the coming 3 month-period of September-November 2018. The said period also marks the last period of the 3-year SMOP among 6 countries (2016-2018). Apart from that, the Delegation was also briefed about the Mekong sub-regional drug situation, and the progress made by all 6 member countries in accordance with the SMOP.
