Friday 23rd of May 2025

June 26 is observed as the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking. It was established by the United Nations in 1987 to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and illegal drug trade. This day serves as a reminder of the global fight against drugs and the importance of prevention, education, and rehabilitation.
Drug abuse not only affects individuals but also families, communities, and societies. It leads to health problems, crime, and poverty. On this day, governments, schools, and organizations around the world host campaigns, educational programs, and public events to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
Including Thailand, the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) continues to advance its campaign and public awareness efforts in observance of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking (June 26) for the year 2025. This year’s powerful slogan is:
“Stop Drugs, Start Power – Empowering Thailand, Ending Drug Threats.”
For 2025, the ONCB, in collaboration with partner organizations, is organizing nationwide activities to reinforce its commitment to combating drug abuse. Key initiatives include anti-drug music events, an award ceremony to honor outstanding contributors, and the destruction of confiscated illegal drugs.
