The 3rd ASEAN Seaport Interdiction Task Force Meeting – ASITF

                  During 14 - 17 August 2018 at A-1 Royal Cruise, Pattaya, Chonburi, ONCB Thailand chaired the 3rd ASEAN Seaport Interdiction Task Force Meeting – ASITF. Participants came from the narcotics police units, customs, and narcotics control offices from the 10 ASEAN Member States. Representatives from Australian Federal Police- AFP, US Drug Enforcement Administration- DEA, National Police Agency- NPA of Japan, and Japan Customs also attended this meeting to share and exchange information on the interdiction of drug smuggling via international seaports.

                   ASEAN Seaport Interdiction Task Force – ASITF is an initiative of the Republic of Indonesia to intensify cooperation among ASEAN Member States in coping with illegal drugs trafficking by sea routes which is increasingly complicated and high both in volume and frequency.

ASEAN-NARCO

The ASEAN Narcotics Cooperation Centre (ASEAN-NARCO) was officially launched in Bangkok this week to further drive regional efforts in pursuing ASEAN Drug Free 2015. To act as a coordinating platform for ASEAN Member States in working together on drug related cases, ASEAN NARCO is now focusing on drug law enforcement and expected to cover other areas of drug control in the future.
